Specialisation
Contentious town planning and associated work with particular emphasis on local government and enforcement. Appears regularly on behalf of developer and local authority clients at planning and enforcement inquiries. Has acted for Daventry, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire District Councils at their respective Local Plan Inquiries – in the former case also advising on the proposed modifications and successfully defending the adoption of the Plan in the High Court. Regularly involved in challenging and defending planning decisions under the 1990 Act and Judicial Review proceedings in the High Court and Court of Appeal, with particular emphasis on cases involving the assertion of Human Rights under the European Convention and the Human Rights Act 1998.
Acknowledged liquor licensing and public entertainment lawyer (having formerly been a Clerk to the Licensing Justices in the West Midlands).

Career
Joined the Magistrates’ Courts service in 1975, Diploma in Law for Magistrates’ Courts’ Clerks 1980, admitted as a Solicitor in 1986. Joined Marrons in 1989 having formerly practised in Birmingham and Solihull in criminal prosecution and defence work.
